the morning moon

yesterday morning, 6 o'clock

the moon hanged yet high
above the pacific sky

like a chunk of rock
breaking away into the space

lost its universal dock

Horror Has A Name

Horror Has A Name

Richard Chu © 10/23/2009

I felt it, The Death, once again, was looming large,

like a big shadow in a beautiful sunny day,

Knocking on our door, once again, in such urgency,

Reaching far out its tentacles,

Like a giant Octopus, it was ready to make another score

For its today’s fresh catch

So ugly and so powerful, so quietly and yet so irresistibly

It came…

And it came…

With no excuse, nor mercy,

Or any false pretence

It came

To claim another life of its prey

Without a word,

Or any apologetic posture

It came

And took one more

life for its newly polished trophy

…………..

Defeated.

So I surrendered

under its ever extended power,

I knelt on my knees before its feet

Begging for its mercy.

With no avail…

Letting it take what it came for

I made it easy for its needs.

Surrendering,

I turned my back and pretend

To be blind

I made it easy for its day

Letting it take away with it – without a fight -

Mewmew, the cat, our first child –

A preciously cherished piece of

Our All-Precious-life-as-a-whole…

A life, departed and separated

And broken,

Apart.
